Candoia carinata carinata, atau kita kenal di Indonesia sebagai keluarga  Boa mono pohon  . Ular ini mencapai panjang 60cm  tetapi dengan diameter kecil (untuk jenis Halmahera / Candoia paulsoni tasmai kurang dari tiga kaki).

Biasanya merupakan type   ular jinak yang tidak menggigit, cocok untuk melingkar di tangan karena mereka hidup di cabang-cabang pohon. Memiliki banyak variasi warna dan motif, yang umumnya dari coklat ke hitam. Mono adalah ular pohon yang aktif di malam hari (nokturnal). Mereka  makan kodok, kadal, atau pingkies.


Berkembang biak dengan melahirkan anak-anak yang bisa mencapai sepuluh ekor. Jantan memiliki karakteristik taji / spur di anus biasanya hitam, sebaliknya u betina.
